Cash For Kids appeal get a lift from Yorkshire business

A Cleckheaton business is getting behind the Cash for Kids Christmas Appeal by providing an alternative Santa sledge to help collect its Christmas gift donations.

Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire) has supplied a brightly coloured Volkswagen Crafter van to collect and deliver gifts to underprivileged children in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The deliveries are part of Radio Aire and Magic 828’s Cash for Kids Children’s Charity’s Annual Christmas Appeal, which aims to ensure that every child wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning.

Last year was the most successful year for Radio Aire & Magic 828’s Cash for Kids, which raised over £280,000 to support thousands of the area’s most needy local children.

Radio Aire’s charity manager, Katy Winterschladen, believes this year’s Christmas Appeal can be even better.

She said: “We are aiming to make our 2011 Christmas Appeal the biggest to date and I’m sure we’ll get there with the amount of generosity and support people have shown.

“Sadly there are many children in our area whose circumstances and living conditions mean that they would otherwise wake up to nothing on Christmas Day.

“By working closely with social services and organisations our aim is to ensure the gifts and donations we receive are going to the right children.

“We aim to help over 10,000 children so managing all the gifts is impossible without the support of Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire), our volunteers and sponsors.

“Please help us keep the Christmas Dream Alive by visiting the website and donating today.”

Andrew Caygill, director of Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire), said: “It is heart-breaking to hear that children from this area are suffering, especially at Christmas.

“Giving our support to this appeal has been an absolute privilege and we hope we’ve made Christmas special for more children in our area.”
