Aberdeen business raises more than £5,000 for charity

An Aberdeen Volkswagen business, which is committed to a cancer charity, has raised £5,374 for the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal.

Specialist Cars in West Tullos has generated the funds after hosting a series of events including raffles, a car rally, golf days and sponsorship challenges.

The Volkswagen car retailer is part of the John Clark Motor Group which has dedicated all its fundraising efforts to supporting the charity’s quest of raising £3m for a new, purpose built Maggie’s Centre in the grounds of Foresterhill Hospital.

Ashleigh Wood, Specialist Cars Volkswagen charity champion, said: “The whole team has got behind the charity from some growing moustaches, to others competing in a 73 mile cycling and hiking challenge and more racing in a pedal car race.

“Everyone has had great fun and we are very grateful to our customers for their support. Our fundraising efforts have not ended here as we still have a number of other activities planned to help generate even money funds.”

To date the John Clark Motor Group has helped raise £50,492 for the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal. The Appeal is jointly run by the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation set up by 2010 Ryder Cup captain, Colin Montgomerie, in memory of his mother.
