Panto present for Exeter primary school

An Exeter primary school is preparing for pantomime season after receiving an early Christmas present from a leading South West housebuilder.

Thanks to a £250 donation from Persimmon Homes South West, Rockbeare Church of England Primary School is set to receive a special visit from Dick Whittington and the West End Productions travelling theatre group.

The school’s fundraising body, Friends of Rockbeare School Association (FRSA), appealed to over 20 successful businesses for funds to give the school’s 67 pupils a Christmas treat to remember, with Persimmon being only one of two companies to make a donation.

Helen Dart, chairperson for FRSA, said: “Everybody from Rockbeare Primary School would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their generosity.  We’re now able to give our pupils a Christmas experience that they’ll never forget.

“My father actually maintains the gardens at Persimmon’s Galileo development – which isn’t far from the school – and he’s always said that they do what they can to support local communities.

“Being a small school on the outskirts of Exeter, FRSA has to work extremely hard to try and raise funds to support the costs of school trips and extra-curricular activities for our children, so all donations from businesses are gratefully received.”

Katie Alderton, senior field sales manager at Persimmon Homes South West, said: “As a leading developer in the Exeter region, we strive to build relationships within the local community.  We are therefore delighted to support Rockbeare Primary School by bringing a little festive cheer to the pupils.”
