Daughters followed to new development by mum & dad

With the final phase of a new development in Lancashire now under construction, one extended family discovered that the Workington site had quite some pulling power.

Liz Cross was the first family member to buy a brand new home at Honister Park. She was soon followed by her sister Christine Armstrong – and they were both subsequently followed by their mum and dad!

All four members of the family upped sticks from Cockermouth to move to the development which has stunning views of the coast and fells.

It is 18 months since Liz moved in with her husband and 16-year-old daughter.

She said: “I was the first in the family to buy, and bought a three storey townhouse on the second phase of the development. We all love it here.”

Then just a year ago, sister Christine moved with her daughter Emily, 11, into a two bedroom property located on the first phase.

Finally, mum and dad, Maureen and Gordon Dickson, completed the chain when they moved into the three bedroom Farthing showhome.

Mrs Dickson said: “My husband and I had lived in our former house in Cockermouth for 53 years, so it was quite a big decision for us to move. But because of our age and our health, the girls really wanted us near – and we wanted to be near them and the grandchildren.

“We are so glad we did. We’ve never lived in a brand new home before but it is everything we hoped it would be. We’ve turned the third bedroom into a dressing room and the house is wonderful, we love living here.”

Persimmon Homes Lancashire Sales Director Diane Finch said: “To have not two but three strands of the same family invest in Honister Park is a real testament to this development. We hope they all enjoy living here and being so close together.”
