A young driver from Wigan had a birthday to remember thanks to a local car retailer.
Sophie Stradings, who recently celebrated her 17th birthday, was treated to a grand reveal of a new car at Corkills Volkswagen.
Following a visit from Sophie’s parents, Paul Hickey, sales executive at Corkills Volkswagen, went the extra mile to arrange the birthday surprise.
When Sophie and her family visited the retailer on Wallgate, the birthday girl thought they were browsing for a new car for her grandparent’s, but little did she know that she would be the one picking up keys for an approved used Volkswagen Polo.
Beverly Stradings, Sophie’s mother, said: “Sophie was over the moon when a big black cloth was removed to reveal her new car hidden underneath. She has always wanted a white Volkswagen Polo for her first car so couldn’t believe her luck.
“When we first visited to take a look at the vehicles available we realised that Sophie’s dream car was actually an affordable option for her first car.
“We want to say a big thank you to Paul and the team at Corkills for arranging this special surprise. The service we received was above and beyond with Sophie being showered with balloons, chocolates, flowers and a birthday card.”
Corkills Volkswagen’s brand manager, Jacqui Kaye, said: “Paul did all he could to ensure that Sophie had a fantastic birthday surprise.
