A range of free family events will take place in Alton throughout this summer thanks to support from Persimmon’s South Coast region.
The company is sponsoring The Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery’s calendar of activities for 2013, enabling the Hampshire Museum and Galleries Trust to provide arts and crafts experiences for local people at both locations.
Rob Allen, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “We feel it is important to forge strong relationships within the communities where we are building, and our Barley Fields development on Anstey Road is very close to the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery in Alton.
“Last year we supported the Trust’s summer programme of children’s activities and, as that proved very popular with local families, we were keen to help them develop and increase the event available.”
Persimmon Homes has provided £1500 to fund event and materials at both the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery sites. All children’s activities are free to the public, allowing families to engage with the gallery and the arts at no cost.
Fleur Bowles, events and promotions manager for Hampshire Museums and Galleries Trust, said: “We are so grateful to Persimmon for their support. We will now also be able to purchase a gazebo, enabling activities to take place come rain or shine!
“We have a calendar of events already set out for the year, with a series of talks planned at the Allen Gallery starting with celebrity gardener Pippa Greenwood visiting us in April.”
