A £1m investment in a north London business has seen the creation of ten jobs and the promise of more in the future.
The money has gone into upgrading Citygate Automotive’s Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Skoda and service centre, all in the heart of Colindale.
The service centre, which opened recently, is already experiencing an increase in business, indicating further recruitment will follow in due course.
Jonathan Smith, managing director at Citygate Automotive, said: “This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to the area with all our business operations.
“With the creation of ten new jobs and the high probability of further vacancies, we’re delighted that we can offer both a great service to our customers and provide the people of north London with employment.”
Among the major changes to the service centre will be the inclusion of a new service, Direct Express, to the region and the first of its kind in the UK
It gives Volkswagen owners the opportunity to drop in for a service, fluid change, or have new tyres, exhausts and batteries fully fitted, without making an appointment.
“People have very busy lives and sometimes fixing a specific date and time for a service or new tyres can be hard, but the Direct Express scheme allows customers to arrive when they have the spare time and ensure we work around their availability,” said Citygate’s group aftersales manager, Simon Poole.
“Customers are always at the heart of our business decisions, as we’re always looking at making buying or servicing a car easier.”
The Volkswagen Van Centre is located on the Capitol Way Industrial Park, next door to the new Skoda site, with the new service centre in close proximity.
Simon continued: “The service centre is one of the biggest in the country and will have 12 dedicated ramps for Volkswagen passenger cars, seven for commercial vehicles and two for the Direct Express service.
