Staff at Persimmon Homes in the Midlands region are aiming to raise vital funds for the Hannah Payne Memorial Trust after selecting it as the company’s chosen charity for the year.
The region – which operates housing developments across Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire – will hold fundraising activities throughout the year to help support the charity’s work to create and maintain family rooms in hospitals.
Judith Potter, deputy managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “The Hannah Payne Memorial Trust was one of the deserving causes nominated last year in Persimmon’s 40th birthday competition. Although the Trust did not progress through to the final stage of the competition, when the public voted for one cause to win a £250,000 house, we were struck by the work done by the charity and its supporters.
“Each year we choose a charity to benefit from our corporate fundraising so this year all our efforts will be focused on supporting The Hannah Payne Memorial Trust.
“Our first activity will be a 120-mile sponsored bike ride, being undertaken by one of our site managers, Andy Gordon, and his lifelong friend Andy Chubb. They plan to tour eight golf clubs around Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire over two days in May.”
The duo’s challenge can be sponsored here.
The Hannah Payne Memorial Trust was established after the tragic death of Hannah, a talented 17-year-old girl from Mears Ashby, Northamptonshire, in January 2006.
Julian Payne, Chairman of the Hannah Payne Memorial Trust said: “We are honoured to be the chosen charity for Persimmon Homes Midlands region. I am sure it will be a fantastic year with both sides benefitting from this partnership.
“Both the Trust and Persimmon Homes place a huge emphasis on serving the community in so many ways and in giving something back.”
The charity, which provides comfortable, well-equipped areas in hospitals for the family and friends of patients, was among hundred entered into Persimmon’s 40th anniversary competition last year. It was shortlisted to the last three for the region.
Work is currently starting on a much-needed second ‘Hannah Payne Family Room’ for the children’s ward at Northampton General Hospital.
