First resident moves into new Swindon development

The first resident at one of Swindon’s newest housing developments has moved in as sales rates across the region exceed all expectations.

Katie Miller, 26, received the keys to her brand new home at Hazel Ridge, a Persimmon Homes development of two, three and four bedroom homes located off Cricklade Road in Swindon.

Katie, who works as a teacher at St John the Evangelist Primary School in Carterton, purchased a three bedroom home having looked on Rightmove.   Immediately attracted to the price of the property, Katie purchased the home under the Government’s FirstBuy scheme.

“It’s fantastic to be here,” said Katie.  “I instantly fell in love with development and didn’t hesitate to buy a new home under the Government’s FirstBuy scheme.  The location of the site is an added bonus being just a short drive to work and my family home in Carterton.

“Craig the site manager along with Paula and Chrissie in the sales office have been outstanding throughout the whole buying process.  They have been there whenever I needed them, putting my mind at rest from all the worries of being a first time buyer.”

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director or Persimmon Homes Wessex, added: “I’m delighted for Katie and hope she creates many lasting memories in her new home.  We’ve been overwhelmed by those looking to buy a new home at Hazel Ridge thanks to our range of affordable, but quality new-build accommodation.  Visitors are full of enthusiasm and there is a real buzz for what is on offer here.”

The FirstBuy scheme, which successfully assisted first time buyers with only a small deposit, has recently been replaced with Help to Buy.  The scheme helps all buyers with only a 5% deposit with the rest made up of a 20% shared equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years, and a 75% mortgage.
