New senior partner for Higgs & Sons

An expanding Midlands legal practice has announced that a new senior partner will lead the firm from November 2013.

Nick Moxon, head of Higgs & Sons’ private client team, will take over from current senior partner, Ian Shovlin, who has successfully led the firm for the last decade.

Under the tenure of Ian, working alongside managing partner Paul Hunt, Higgs’ growth strategy in the last 10 years has seen the firm expand to over 100 lawyers and move to prestigious new headquarters at Brierley Hill’s Waterfront Business Park.

Nick has been with the firm for approaching 20 years and is a highly experienced and respected private client lawyer. He will continue to head the private client team Nick’s client base includes a large number of business owners and he works closely with the firm’s corporate team. He also has a burgeoning professional following in London.

Speaking of his appointment, Nick said: “I am taking over from a hugely successful senior partner, who played a pivotal role in helping the firm grow beyond all expectations. My appointment by the partners is an honour and I’m looking forward to leading Higgs in the next stage of the firm’s development.”

Ian Shovlin will continue in the role until November and will remain as a partner with the firm as head of its nationally respected personal injury team. He said: “The last 10 years have been great fun. Higgs has a fantastic team, which has helped the firm make great strides in the last decade.

“I would like to thank everybody who has supported me, not just within the firm but also professional colleagues and friends throughout the region. I look forward to handing the reins over the Nick, who I know will do an excellent job.”

Managing partner Paul Hunt has been re-elected for a further term to continue a role which has seen him play a key part in the expansion of the firm. He said: “Ian has worked hard to lead us through a rapid expansion programme and will continue to be a great ambassador for Higgs. Nick’s appointment is great news for the firm. Higgs & Sons works from two offices in the Black Country – Waterfront Business Park in Brierley Hill and Kingswinford. The firm employs more than 200 people, which includes over 100 specialist lawyers.
