Top industry award for site manager

A site manager with leading regional builder Charles Church has scooped a top industry award for the fourth time.

Andy Edney has been awarded an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for his work overseeing the company’s stunning Willows Edge development in the West Sussex village of North Bersted.

Delighted Andy (50) said the award marked 18 months of hard work on the impressive 240-home site, which features a range of two to five-bedroom homes.

The award recognises the highest standards of excellence, with National House-Building Council inspectors judging winners on meticulous and consistent attention to detail quality of workmanship, excellent leadership, technical expertise and commitment to the highest health and safety standards.

Andy – who started his building career as a fork lift truck driver before working his way through the ranks to manage sites – said he had returned to the industry 18 months ago after a brief break to oversee Willows Edge and put his success down to good team work.

“This is the fourth time I have won a Pride in the Job award and I think the secret is good management skills. It is a question of working with the guys on site and getting them to buy into exactly what we are trying to achieve.

“I am very much the sort of person who expects things to be finished to the standards I would expect in my own home and I will not settle for anything less.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my work at Willows Edge and am really proud of what we have achieved here. This is a very good company to work for and that shows through in the finished homes.”

Married Andy, who has an 18-year-old son at college, said work was progressing well on the site and should be completely finished by next August.

Pete Watton, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new UK homes, said:

“Winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award is a major achievement for any site manager. Andy Edney is at the top of the game, ensuring that the homes created are of the highest standards. Andy can be truly proud of this accolade.”

“For over three decades, Pride in the Job has been a foundation of NHBC’s work to improve housing standards, encouraging best practice on site. The homes our Quality Award winners have built are without doubt among the best in the UK.”

Willows Edge is only 1.5 miles from the centre of Bognor Regis which offers a good selection of famous name retailers as well as a Blue Flag and Quality Coast Beach award in 2009, and only 4.5 miles from the centre of the Cathedral City of Chichester.

Each home has been carefully designed to be in harmony with its surroundings, interiors make the very best use of light and space and feature individual touches that set a Charles Church home apart from the rest.

Charles Church has a range of schemes to make buying your dream new home at Willows Edge as simple as possible. Help to Buy, Part Exchange, Home Change and NewBuy are all available – just call in to find which one is right for you.
