HomeChange helps Emma’s dreams come true

A delighted mother-of-three and her family are finally loving life in their new dream home – after house builder Persimmon came to their rescue and sold their old home in double-quick time.

Emma Smith and husband Christopher decided to move from their old three-bed terrace in the Cumbrian market town of Wigton when Emma found out she was pregnant for a third time.

But despite putting the house on the market for eight months they received hardly any interest and were starting to give up hope of ever making the move.

Then Persimmon offered to sell the home through its HomeChange part exchange scheme and it was snapped up by the first people to view it.

Magistrates court assistant Emma, 32, and Christopher are now happily settled in their superb five-bed Persimmon home at Scholars Green in Wigton with a brand new baby girl to join her two boys, and Emma says she cannot recommend the HomeChange scheme highly enough.

“We decided to move when we learned I was pregnant because a three-bedroom house with three children is just not big enough. We had our house on the market for about eight months but were getting nowhere.

“Then we found our new home and Persimmon recommended the HomeChange scheme. It was just perfect for us. They sold it to the first people to view it – and we got a house we love.

“I would recommend the scheme to anybody. It was hassle-free and straightforward and everything went really smoothly. I have never sold a house before so I was not sure what to expect, but Persimmon’s team went through all the detail and we just went with it.”

Emma and Christopher, a team leader at the Sellafield nuclear power station, moved into their stunning new £226,995 Winster home just over two months later and say they could not be happier.

“We absolutely love our new house,” said Emma. “We have lots of space and a nice big garden. We have got everything we wanted.”

HomeChange is available on selected Persimmon plots and sees the builder to use its contacts to help sell a buyer’s current property. Persimmon arranges at least two valuations, agrees a price and then markets the house, meaning there are no estate agent fees.

Persimmon Homes Lancashire sales and marketing director Diane Finch said the HomeChange scheme could take a lot of the pain out of selling a home and was proving increasingly popular.

“We were able to sell the Smith’s old home pretty quickly because we could bring a lot of our knowledge and experience to the sale. At the same time Emma and Christopher did not have any of the hassle of handling the sale and instead could concentrate on the nice bit of the deal – moving into their new home.

“HomeChange is just one of our part exchange options, so we can tailor what we offer to every buyer’s individual circumstances.”

Scholars Green is an exciting development of only 46 three, four and five-bedroom houses with prices starting from £142,995. It is set between Carlisle and Workington, with easy access to the Lake District and excellent transport links.
