Fledgling Merseyside business continues to grow

A Merseyside business that only opened its doors in 2011 is continuing to grow, after celebrating a landmark sale.

Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool recently sold its 3,000th vehicle, meaning it is one of the fastest growing centre for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK.

The positive news for the Speke-based business, means the company could soon be looking to recruit more staff, something it has done every year since opening.

David Cowan, head of business at the Evans Road site, said: “This is excellent news for the business, given the economic climate and the fact we’re still relatively new to the city.

“It shows how the Volkswagen brand provides superb value for money and the staff at the van centre are delivering what customers want.

“We hope this trend continues and look forward to more encouraging results and business in 2014.”

Merseyside had been without the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand for more than six years before the retailer group Swansway invested almost £2m in a state-of-the-art van centre, bringing with it initially 15 new jobs. That has now increased to 35.

“Liverpool had been without a dedicated brand franchise for too long and the fact we’ve been so successful in the first three years shows the appetite for the brand in the region.

“We’re continuing to assess the job situation and would welcome applications from people who would like to join the growing business,” added David.
