Persimmon West Midlands has secured planning consent to bring a wider range of house types to its Akron Gate development in Wolverhampton, in addition to redeveloping the Promise House phase of the former Goodyear site.
Sales director Stephen Cleveley welcomed the updated plans, which will see nine two-bedroom houses and a block of 32 apartments built on the piece of land next to the Gatehouse pub, fronting the Stafford Road.
“Akron Gate is the West Midlands’ flagship development, phenomenally popular with buyers and successfully regenerating the iconic former Goodyear industrial site into a superb new community.
“In addition to the Promise House homes, we’ve also re-planned part of the next phase for Akron Gate to offer a wider range of house types. Our buyers have asked for more choice of two, three and four bedroom homes, so that’s what we will be building.”
Properties at Akron Gate start at £99,950* and Persimmon’s sales advisors are able to offer information on the Government’s Help To Buy scheme which allows people to purchase their new home with just a five per cent deposit.
Homes available include the practical three bedroom semi-detached ‘Broughton’ with a comfortable lounge, dining kitchen and a master bedroom with fitted wardrobes and en suite shower room, while for those seeking more space, the four bedroom detached ‘Avon’ includes a utility room and doors from the dining area to the garden.
Stephen added: “Overall, more than 300 homes are planned for Akron Gate, delivered in conjunction with St Modwen, alongside the pub and Aldi supermarket that are already proving popular with the local community.
“The transformation of the site is brilliant to see, breathing new life into this part of the city, especially with the i54 enterprise zone just up the road, bringing hundreds of new jobs to Wolverhampton – it creates a real buzz of excitement about this end of town.”
The sales office at Akron Gate is open seven days a week. For more information call in to the development on Stafford Road.
