A home worth waiting for

An eager family of seven has sold their home of eight years to make absolutely sure that they don’t miss out on the family home of their dreams before a single brick has been laid.

Gillian and Alan Roxburgh and their five children have moved in to their parents at Persimmon Homes’ Kingston Quay development in Port Glasgow in anticipation of the new phase.

Gillian, a 34-year old child care worker, said they moved quickly so that they could secure the home that they so desperately want in their perfect location: “We have wanted to move to Kingston Quay for a long time but they didn’t have homes that could accommodate all seven of us. When we heard they were building a new phase we were determined to get a plot on the same street as my in- laws, Irene and Billy.

“We put our house up for sale immediately and decided to move in with them so we could be first to reserve when the homes are released.

“There are now ten of us living in a four-bedroom home. It’s a tight squeeze but it’s worth it for the location and the stunning views of the River Clyde.”

Gillian said they’re waiting for the release of a five-bedroom Warriston home overlooking the River Clyde: “It’s the biggest house type on the development so there’ll be plenty of space for us all. I love the open plan kitchen diner and the Jack and Jill en-suite is ideal for my three girls to share.

“Also, buying off-plan presents so many benefits. Not only can we secure our dream home in our preferred location on the development, it will also allow us to personalise the interior.  We will be able to choose things like kitchen units, flooring and tiles.”

The development has proved a draw for the entire family; Alan’s sister and her family of four and his brother Neil and his fiancé are also looking to move to the Kingston Quay development once the new phase is released next month.

His parents, Irene and Billy, who have been living in their four-bedroom detached Forbes style house with their youngest son for almost two years, said they’re looking forward to having their loved ones nearby.

Grandfather, Billy said:  “It’s a beautiful waterfront location and we’re looking forward to our family moving here. We all get on so well so it would be great to have them around. Getting to see my lovely grandchildren regularly is a huge bonus. ”

Kingston Quay is a stunning development overlooking the Clyde Estuary. Currently in the process of building a third phase of 61 new homes in a £10 million project, this development offers a diverse mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to meet the needs of  a wide range of buyers.

Ingrid Gahagan, Persimmon Homes West Scotland’s sales director, said she is delighted with how popular the development is.

Kingston Quay has proved to be an extremely popular development with interest particularly high in our detached villas. We already have a waiting list of buyers ready to move the minute we confirm our releases.

“It’s all about location and we work hard to find sites that will appeal to buyers.  In particular Kingston Quay offers a tranquil location with waterfront walks which I’m sure has made it an appealing choice for first time buyers, growing families and those looking to downsize.”
