Salvation Army land sold for housing

Leading builder, Persimmon Homes South Midlands is poised to start work on a new £5 million housing development in Binley.

The 2.4 acre parcel of land off Skipworth Road was purchased by Persimmon after original owners ‘The Salvation Army Trustee Company’ decided that the land was surplus to their requirements.

Adjacent to the Youell Court care home the plot is close to central Coventry and CoombeCountryPark, making it a prime location for a residential development.

Planning permission for the collection of 41, two, three and four bedroom homes was approved by Coventry City Council‘s Planning Committee in February and work on the new homes is expected to start on site in early June.

Andy Peters, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “The new build market is extremely competitive and we are acutely aware of the need to build the very best homes in the most sought after locations. With this in mind we are very excited to start-on-site in Binley and expect demand for the homes to be high once the properties are released for sale in July.”

Binley is a sought after suburb situated on the eastern fringe of Coventry, approximately 3.5 miles from the City Centre and within easy reach of motorway and rail networks.

Andy added: “Buying a new home is now more affordable and straightforward than ever thanks to   incentives including the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, Home Change and the Persimmon Part Exchange scheme.  We look forward to launching this new development, allowing our future customers to secure their preferred property at Binley Place.  Prior to general release , our customers can register their interest on our website.”
