Iron MAN builds strong relationship with Scunthorpe United

Leading commercial vehicle specialist, MAN Truck & Bus UK, along with its Scunthorpe dealer HRVS Group, has today signed a deal to become Scunthorpe United Football Club’s back of shirt sponsor.

Simon Elliott, managing director, MAN Truck & Bus UK and Keith Sims, operations director, HRVS Group joined the club’s chairman, Peter Swann and chief executive, Jim Rodwell, at Glanford Park to announce the new two-year deal.

Speaking of the deal, Simon Elliott said the club sponsorship is one which makes excellent business sense for the local dealer and the brand.

“Football offers a high-profile opportunity for businesses, never more so than in today’s social media age,” said Simon.

“For MAN, this is a strong partnership and we’re delighted to be associated with Prostate Cancer UK, a cause being backed by Scunthorpe United which has donated the front of its shirts in support. We’re a male-dominated industry and as a business, health and well-being is extremely important for us.

“MAN is being supported in the sponsorship by our local dealer HRVS Scunthorpe based in Broughton. This association will help us to achieve maximum brand activation both locally and nationally.”

Chairman of the football club, Peter Swann, added: “We are delighted to welcome MAN and the HRVS Group as brand new main sponsors of the football club.

“Simon Elliott has been extremely supportive of Scunthorpe United over the years so we are grateful for his continued support and we are very pleased that the HRVS Group, who have strong links in both the local area and across the country through the MAN brand, have recognised the opportunity in partnering with the club and we look forward to working with them over the duration of the agreement and hopefully for many years to come.”

Keith Sims, operations director, HRVS Group, is delighted to be supporting the local region. “HRVS has a strong presence in Scunthorpe and surrounding areas and this sponsorship will allow us to give something back to the community in which we work and help us spread the MAN message to an even wider audience.”

The Scunthorpe United first team will wear their newly branded HRVS MAN playing shirts for the first time at the away game against Southend on Saturday, September 26 with the first chance for fans to see the players wearing them at Glanford Park on Tuesday September 29 when Walsall visit North Lincolnshire.

Fans who have already bought their shirts are invited to bring them back to Glanford Park and have the sponsorship applied retrospectively.
