‘SAINTS’ CAN GIVE WATFORD CHARITIES A BOOST

Charities and community groups in Watford are being given the chance to make a positive start to 2016 with a £1,000 boost to their coffers.

To mark the official opening of its new branch in Watford on March 16, leading builders merchant Selco Builders Warehouse is searching for three ‘Saints’ to each receive the £1,000 windfall for their organisation.

Making an application is simple, with individuals from charities and community groups in the Watford area invited to explain no more than 100 words how the £1,000 would benefit them.

Entries can be made by filling in a form on the Selco website.

Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Monday February 29.

Selco is no stranger to making large donations to good causes. The company’s nominated charity is Macmillan Cancer Support which has benefitted from over £260,000 following the fundraising efforts of Selco’s employees, suppliers and customers. Selco has set a target of reaching the £300,000 milestone by the end of 2016.

Andrew Colbourne, branch manager at Selco’s Watford branch, which will be based at Imperial Park on Imperial Way and which will create more than 50 jobs locally, said: “We are delighted to mark the arrival of the Selco offering in Watford by providing this fantastic opportunity for charities and community groups in the area.

“So many organisations do such fantastic community work in and around Watford and we are very proud to be able to give them the chance to win a sum of money which will make a real difference.”

Selco’s Watford branch will offer an extensive range of  building materials, drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products, a range of timber including a bespoke cutting service, doors and windows, ironmongery and fixings, decorating supplies, landscaping and fencing items as well as kitchen and bathroom showrooms plus Selco’s tool and plant hire service.

Selco’s new online offering, Click and Collect – which makes life easier for customers as they can order online and collect in branch – will also be available at Watford.

There is also an in-branch café, trade services, direct-to-site delivery options and van size parking spaces, all designed to make it easier for tradespeople to get onto the job as soon as possible.
