Exeter business sees bright economic future

An Exeter business is predicting a bright future for the regional economy after welcoming an increase in sales figures in 2013.

Carrs Volkswagen Van Centre has seen sales in new and used vehicles increase by ten per cent this year, compared to 2012 and this has resulted in the sales team increasing in size.

The business, based on the Marsh Barton Industrial Estate, is expecting further increases in 2014 having already secured a healthy order list for next year.

And head of business, Stephen Weedon, is hoping this will lead to further economic growth for the Exeter economy.

“The green shoots are certainly showing in the regional economy and people and businesses in the region are certainly thinking about the future,” said Stephen.

“The market has been tough, but by providing such a reputable and reliable brand and by focusing on customer service, we feel this has helped van operators in the decision making process.

“We’re seeing a significant increase in enquiries by companies for 2014 and see this as a positive step for the region.

“Our success in 2013 and an early prediction for 2014 means we’ve been able to employ a new sales executive.”

According to Stephen the growth in the economy is down to major industries experiencing more confidence.

But he’s aware that without a good product to provide customers, his business wouldn’t be as successful as it is currently.

He added: “A variety of businesses covering different industries, from plumbers to builders, are coming into the Van Centre with a positive outlook for the future and this has transferred itself to an increase in enquiries and orders.

“We have Transporter, Crafter, Caddy and Amarok customers to thank for our success. In addition, low running costs, strong residual values and affordable finance offers continue to make Volkswagen vans a wiser, more desirable investment.”
