QUALIFYING SUCCESS FOR GARSTON APPRENTICE

After three years of hard work a motor apprentice from Garston is celebrating becoming a qualified technician.

Danny Fallon joined Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool in 2011 and embarked on an intensive Volkswagen training programme with the aim of forging a career in the motor industry.

The 21-year-old is looking forward to putting his skills to practical use while still continuing to progress his training.

He said: “I have always been interested in motor mechanics so I was delighted to secure the position at Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool.

“The apprenticeship has been quite challenging at times but I am now setting my sights on my next course and ideally want to work my way up the career ladder.”

The Volkswagen apprenticeship incorporates a series of on and off-site workshops and assessments, enabling the individual to carry out complex diagnostic and engineering analysis on the complete Volkswagen commercial vehicles range.

John Kilby, aftersales manager at Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool, said: “The Swansway Group constructed the Evans Road van centre in 2010 and Danny joined us as our first apprentice in early 2011.

“We are delighted with his progression and feel he fully deserves to have reached the technician status. We look forward to developing his career within the company and the Volkswagen brand.

“We continually aim to bring young new blood into the industry and therefore believe a clear training framework is necessary to help nurture and develop the right skills of these individuals.

“We currently have five apprentices with us and are very pleased to welcome our latest young apprentice, Andrew Quirk, to our team.”
