New city apartments snapped up

Birmingham house hunters have shown an appetite for luxury city loving, as half of the apartments in a new development have been snapped up, within weeks of the showhome opening.

Charles Church West Midlands launched The Edg on Springmeadow Road at the end of September and, of the 45 apartments on offer, half have already been reserved.

Sales director Stephen Cleveley said: “The Edg is a stunning selection of exclusive two bedroom apartments for those seeking stylish city living close to the leisure, entertainment and retail facilities of Birmingham.

“Interest has been even higher than we expected, with a number of private buyers and also buy-to-let investors quick to snap up the first releases. It shows how popular apartment living still is, and that Birmingham buyers really appreciate the luxury touches we are able to offer at The Edg.”

Properties at The Edg start at £134,950 and buyers may be able to access the Government’s Help To Buy shared equity scheme, which requires just a five per cent deposit.

Visitors to the show apartment are also treated to the sight of a specially-commissioned art installation, created by award-winning West Midlands artist Justyna Ptak.

Stephen said: “We asked Justyna to devise a unique piece of art which reflects the contemporary elegance and sense of space at the development and she has created a stunning piece which illustrates the diversity of materials, colours and textures that make up Birmingham as we know it.”

Justyna, who won best in show at the West Midlands Open Art Exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, is currently completing an MA in fine art and specialises in photography.

Her installation at The Edg combines traditional photographic techniques with a modern twist, displayed on transparent panels which allow the colours to shift with the changing light throughout the day.
