New homes on former airfield in demand

New homes on a former airfield in Weston-super-Mare are proving a hit with buyers.

People have been so impressed with the residential development being built by Persimmon Homes Severn Valley that they are reserving their dream home off plan.

The new development named Haywood Village will comprise more than 900 properties in its first phase, with a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes available.  The homes are suitable to a wide cross-section of buyers including first-time buyers, growing families and those looking to down size.

The development boasts views of the Mendip Hills and is within reach of the main town, yet will still have easy access to the motorway and excellent rail connections from Weston-super-Mare station.

Nicola Reed, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley,  said: “We are so pleased to be able to bring this exciting new village to fruition, it will be unlike any other development we have created in Weston-super-Mare before – it is a real return to traditional values and the homes will truly compliment the surrounding area.

“We fully expect Haywood Village to be very popular and have already sold 26 homes off plan.  The development is part of the Junction 21 Enterprise Area, which aims to create 10,000 jobs by 2026 so we expect an influx of workers as well as people wanting to move up the property ladder.”

The creation of the new village will be a real boost to the local economy both in its creation as well as the regeneration and expansion of the nearby business park, which will be known as Loxton Business Park.

Nicola added: “It is a really aspirational development and we believe that with schemes such as Help to Buy, Home Change and Part Exchange available, people will find home ownership more affordable and the whole buying process a lot easier.”

Under the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, buyers only need a 5% deposit along with a 75% mortgage.  The rest is made up with a 20% equity loan, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.  Other schemes available include Home Change, which can be used in conjunction with Help to Buy, were Persimmon market your home for you and pay your estate agent fees.
